I spent the day working on our Christmas cards. It took all day. I'm glad to get them off. Hopefully most will get there before Christmas.
I've decided most of the pregnancy books out there are designed to strike fear in the hearts of pregnant women. I can only read a few pages of one before I get freaked out. Ignorance may be bliss. One I just looked at advised women who haven't given birth before to definitely go to a hospital, skipping the midwife or natural birth until the second or third child, because you have no idea what it's like and you're most likely going to want the epidural. Ack! The birth center I'm planning to go to does have a narcotic available if necessary. It's not an epidural, true. The book also derided birth classes as useless and said all husbands think they're boring. It seems like every book has its own slant which will open up a whole world of doubt in a new direction you've never thought of.
Even babycenter.com is full of negativity in the form of worried moms-to-be concerned over their pregnancies. Where's The Good Vibe Guide to Pregnancy? One book intoned "Giving birth is the most dangerous thing a woman will ever do." Sheesh! More dangerous than taunting pregnant women with dire prognostications? I think not.
