Earth Day

Made another lemon pie, this time for Kim and Alan. Though we all came home from the Mesa Rosa Mexican restaurant and ate it. I feel like the crust of this one wasn't quite as good as the crust from the first one. I'm sure it will take more practice. (The enchilada fantastico I had at Mesa Rosa was, indeed, fantastico. Wow.)

I want to have a girls' night out. But going out gets expensive, so I was thinking maybe I could make a dinner and have girls' night in. At least partially in. Have to think about it a bit more.

I got to go swimming with Wren where she works as an Infant Swim Rescue instructor. The water was 88 degrees and it was perfect. After sticking a toe in our still-frigid pool it felt like drifting into heaven to glide into this one. Plus I found out it's easier to float with a Woozle. Is this because Mother Nature doesn't want pregnant creatures to drown? I think Mother Nature could care less if I drown, but the species must continue. One of Wren's students was doing her winter clothing test; they dress the little bitty thing (in this case a two-year-old girl) in her winter clothes and she has to do all the skills she's learned floating and kicking. It was amazing seeing her float for a whole minute all by herself, just kicking gently, relaxed, leaned back in the water. It was very peaceful watching her. When she was done she had a smile on her face like she was so proud of herself. It was interesting to see her reaction to having mastered a fairly complex skill. It seems like going through that learning process would boost self-confidence in babies and small children.

I'm trying to plan all kinds of cool stuff to have around in the birthing center when I'm in labor. Candles and aromatherapy and fuzzy socks and music. I may not give a hoot about any of it at the time but it feels good to plan it.
