It's difficult sometimes. I go from feeling very good to pretty bad, all in one day. The pretty bad part usually stems from a combination of hip pain, dizziness, skin itchiness, and exhaustion. The skin stuff seems to be related to my allergies and is helped by showers and Benadryl. The hip pain comes and goes but is my more constant companion now and is resistant to almost everything but swimming. The other night the combination of a massage, Tylenol, and a heating pad got it under control for the night and it was a relief. Tonight I was so worn out with it I started considering if I should see an orthopedic doctor now, before the baby is born, even though what they could do is probably limited, and I wouldn't want to have an x-ray. I just don't know what else to do. Acupuncture? Chiropractic and physical therapy have both failed to give lasting relief.
I talked with Karina about the dizziness and she recommended more protein. I came home and ate a salmon patty and two hard-boiled eggs and it went away for the first time since around five this afternoon. Dizziness makes it very hard to think, let alone walk around or even sit and concentrate. When it's hard to think it's hard to talk lucidly.
We had a very good class tonight, which I could appreciate despite the physical irritations I was going through, and got a lot of good information on breastfeeding and newborn care. The class all wanted to share information with each other, too, so Karina had a time keeping everyone focused. We're having our reunion (after all the babies are born) the third week of August. Maybe we can start a playgroup. I'll suggest it if no one else does.
I talked to Michelle tonight and she propped me up when I was feeling discouraged by all these uncomfortable things. Just the sound of her voice is so cheerful and good-natured it makes me feel better to hear it, not to mention all the positive and funny things she says. I needed that.
Thinking of seeing a funny movie this week to get those good endorphins going. The Hangover has gotten very good reviews. William leaves for D.C. on Wednesday. Gets back late Friday.
