The Disappearing Agent

The agent who requested the revision of SEA CHANGE has left her agency to become a children's book scout. In other words, she won't be representing authors anymore. I guess I can submit all over again to one of the other agents. It sounded like more than one person read the manuscript originally, but I don't know who it was, or who they were. It's disheartening. I finally make a connection with an agent, she likes my style and sensibility, and then, boom, it's over. I felt an instant liking for her as we corresponded via email. I don't know if this means I will wait months and months to hear a reaction to the revised SC. I don't really know where this leaves me. It's strange to find out this news just as I'm finishing the revision. The most likely one to query next is probably Laura Rennert, a senior agent at Andrea Brown, where Michelle was. Nancy E. sent me a link yesterday to another agent she thought was a possibility. The timing turned out to be more apt than she knew.

I'm sorry, Kristen. I know you've been working hard on that revision and it must be very disappointing to hear that the agent who wanted the revision is no longer there. It sounds like you are keeping a positive attitude about it. Just keep submitting it.
